We drove out the afternoon of the 4th, parked in the garage near the door, and checked in. Then I remembered that our flyer from Grand Casino mentioned a fireworks display, so I called and used my free room coupon to book a room. We wanted to watch fireworks, but hated the traffic, crowds, and long wait in the extreme heat.
We both frequent the Grand on a pretty regular basis but after observing the total lack of rule enforcement, which is for everyone's health and safety,I don't know if we will return. Both my wife and I could not understand why 'no one' was enforcing the rules. The casino played an announcement over the PS system about wearing the masks and keeping the proper distance from other guests but to no avail. Time after time numerous people would take off their masks and discard them and then proceed to walk around the casino. We saw people coming in,having their temperature checked and given a mask to wear if they didn't have their own. Upon arrival we checked into our suite and then proceeded to head for the casino. We knew that the wearing of masks and social distancing was the rule so we tried very hard to follow those rules but we were very, very disappointed when we observed people totally ignoring the rules. My wife and I decided to go to the Grand on Memorial Day weekend. We checked the new opening rules and decided that it should be ok.
